In spite of the negative attitude and the lack of implication that the Spanish state maintains, events around the peace process continue in the Basque Country as well as other parts of the world. In this bulletin we cover some of the most important things that have taken place in the past month.

In the first place we cover the important event which took place in Uruguay in which numerous personalities of that country expressed their adhesion to the Declaration of Aiete as a valid roadmap for the resolution of the conflict.

It is followed by information about the sessions of the Social Forum for Peace in the Basque Country celebrated recently and in which were mainly covered the questions of the prisoners, refugees and citizens’ participation.

In the area of prisoners and refugees Basque society continues mobilizing itself to ask for the respect of the human rights of the prisoners and refugees and a change in the penitentiary policy of the Spanish and French governments. With this demand, thousands of Basque citizens demonstrated in the streets of Bayonne on June 14th.

That same weekend in Donostia-San Sebastian SARE was presented, the citizens’ network in defence of the most elemental rights of the Basque prisoners, exiles and deportees.

And finally a piece of news that is a motive of joy, the acquittal of 40 young Basques tried for their political activity. Many of them denounced having been tortured during the 5 days that they remained detained and held incommunicado.
